Thousands of Lanarkshire residents among 10.2m in UK to file self-assessment by deadline

More than 630,000 residents across Lanarkshire filed their tax returns on deadline day, with the peak hour for filing between 4 and 5pm, when 52,475 completed their self assessment.

There were 20,947 residents who left it even later, completing between 11pm and midnight. More than 12.2 million customers nationwide were expected to file a self assessment tax return this year.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Self-employed people can use the calculator on GOV.UK to help estimate their tax bill.
