A number of Highway Code changes come into force in January to give cyclists, horse-riders and pedestrians more protection on the roads.
It will be law for motorists to treat these groups with more consideration than they currently do. Guidelines within the Code will advise motorists on what to do when overtaking cyclists and horse riders, and also on giving cyclists and pedestrians priority at some junctions.
