Elizabeth II
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Ethan Shanfeld Disney made quite a splash at its D23 Expo last weekend with a first look at Halle Bailey’s live-action “The Little Mermaid,” which earned over 104 million global views, Variety has learned exclusively.

The clip takes viewers on a journey through the ocean before showing the shimmering underwater life of Ariel (Bailey), who teases her version of the iconic “Little Mermaid” song “Part of Your World.” “The Little Mermaid” teaser floated above those of all recent Disney live-action titles, including “Cruella” (68 million views), “Beauty and the Beast” (94 million views), “Alladin” (74 million views) and “Maleficent 2” (62 million views).

Due to Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday, “The Little Mermaid” metrics do not include views from the U.K., Ireland and Australia.

In addition, “The Little Mermaid” clip claimed Reddit’s No. 1 trending topic on Friday night and is currently the No. 1 trending video on YouTube’s “Movies” section.

Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral Draws 27 Million Viewers in the U.K.
K.J. Yossman Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral drew a peak of 27 million viewers in the U.K., equating to a 95% audience share. The vast majority of those watching in the U.K. on Monday – some 18 million – were tuned into the BBC, who began their coverage from 8am before finishing at approximately 5.30pm, reported Broadcast, citing Overnights TV. In second place was ITV with an audience of 4.5 million followed by BBC2, BBC News and Sky News, which came in fifth with 700,000 viewers. Crucially, the numbers do not include those watching via digital. Sky reported 12.4 million tuned in to Sky News’ coverage of the funeral across all Sky TV channels, the Sky News app and the Sky News website.

Yossman The BBC has reportedly received only 670 complaints regarding “excessive” coverage of Queen Elizabeth II’s death compared to over 100,000 it received following the death of her husband, Prince Philip. The BBC’s schedules were thrown into chaos last Thursday (Sept. 8) after Buckingham Palace made a rare public statement regarding “concerns” for the Queen’s health. Within half an hour of the statement being release the BBC had diverted its flagship network, BBC One, to a rolling news feed. When the Queen’s death was announced later that evening, the corporation interrupted all programming across television and radio to bring audiences the news. Subsidiary networks BBC Three and Four were paused entirely, with an ident directing viewers to BBC One, while BBC Two was a simulcast of BBC One.
