Little Scots girl's sweet tribute to Queen steals hearts at gates of Balmoral Castle

As mourners gathered at Balmoral Castle to say a final farewell to The Queen today, it was one young Scots girl's sweet tribute to Her Majesty that captured the hearts of the nation.

Little Poppy Weatherall left an adorable message to Queen Elizabeth II at the gates of her Scottish home where she passed away on September 8.

Eight-year-old Poppy's written tribute depicted Paddington Bear, the Union Jack and a rainbow.It read: “To Your Majesty - the years you have on the throne have been amazing.

You made people’s lives safe, happy and great. We are all very sad but we all still love you.“You will always be our Queen. We all love you.“Love, Poppy Weatherall.“PS: I am 8 years old and you lived to 96!”Alongside her drawings she wrote: “Thank you for everything” and “God save the King.”On the morning of the 96-year-old's funeral, a steady trickle of people gathered at Balmoral this morning.Those who spoke to the Record said they wanted to be somewhere the Queen held dear, rather than at home watching proceedings on TV..Hollie Stinson, a 30-year-old florist from Insch, laid a bouquet of home-grown dahlias and cosmos alongside pet cockapoo Barley.She said: “I didn’t get a chance to come here before and thought I would use the bank holiday to come and pay my respects.“I enjoy the Balmoral estate a lot and I’m not a big royalist or anything but her death felt quite unexpected.“We’re going to have a lovely walk and reflect.
