A new study has revealed the "quietest places in the world's loudest cities", and a peaceful Scottish garden is among the destinations featured.Research conducted by natural sound library earth.fm aimed to identify the locations in urban areas around the world where residents can escape the noise of city living.

According to the experts, noise pollution can negatively impact sleep, work and school performance, and hearing itself.To help those living in the loudest cities get a bit of peace, the experts rounded up the spots within them where you can escape the hustle and bustle for a little while.

According to earth.fm, Edinburgh is the "noisiest" city in the UK, while its quietest spot is the secluded Dr Neil's Garden.Located in the charming and historic village of Duddingston, less than two miles from Edinburgh's city centre, Dr Neil's Garden can be found between the 12th-century Duddingston Kirk and the tranquil Duddingston Loch.

It was created in 1963 by general practitioners Dr Andrew Jardine Neil and his wife Dr Agnes Emily 'Nancy' Neil.
