Trams, buses and trains in Greater Manchester will continue to run during the period of Coronavirus lockdown, transport chiefs have said today.

However the number of services will imminently be reduced, they said. Vehicles will also go through “robust” cleaning to try and limit the spread of the disease.

The government yesterday (Monday) urged people to avoid all but essential travel as part of drastic measures to limit the spread of the highly contagious Covid-19 virus.

The developing situation meant there was last week a 10 percent decrease in the number of passengers on Metrolink, the Manchester Evening News understands.
