Shōgun and Hacks were among the big winners Friday at the 40th Annual The Television Critics Association Awards. The TCA Awards honor outstanding programming from the 2023-2024 television season.
The winners were selected by the TCA’s membership of more than 230 TV journalists from across the United States and Canada. Trophies went to FX’s first-year period piece Shōgun for Program of the Year as well as in Outstanding Achievement in Drama, Outstanding New Program and Individual Achievement in Drama for star Anna Sawai.
And Jean Smart took home her second Individual Achievement in Comedy Award for her portrayal as comedian Deborah Vance in Hacks.
The TCA Awards recognized Twin Peaks with the Heritage Award and honored the late Andre Braugher with this year’s Career Achievement prize. “It was a year of brilliant television, from an epic historical drama to a harrowing documentary,” said Jacqueline Cutler, TCA president. “We’re thrilled to honor all who created these shows, often against great odds, as many were worked on during the pandemic and stopped for the strikes.
