Steve Wright's promising words to co-star as he 'made plan to move station after show axe'

Steve Wright had intentions to move to a different radio station when his much-loved afternoon show was abruptly cancelled after 23 years in 2022, his former colleague Janey Lee Grace has revealed.

Announcing his exit news on the station at the time, the broadcaster told listeners that management "wanted to do something different in the afternoons".

Later, it emerged that Scott Mills, a former BBC Radio 1 presenter, would take over with a new show as part of a scheduling shuffle.

While he was gutted with the change, Steve continued on the station with his popular Sunday Love Songs programme until his death aged 69 earlier this year.
