Brother in Every Inch definitely offers the world something it’s never seen before — the training of Russian air force pilots on an actual Russian air base — but guess what: It looks exactly flight training in any other country. All the same, this second feature from director Alexander Zolotukhin (after his debut three years ago with A Russian Youth) does take you somewhere new as it examines the progress of twin brothers as they undergo the rigors of learning to fly jet fighters, even if it’s presented in a semi-arty way that is both aesthetically pleasing and dramatically skimpy. This visually entrancing short feature (just 80 minutes long) premiered in the Encounters section of the Berlin Film Festival.

Fêted and eternally fabulous, Isabelle Huppert is this year’s Berlin Film Festival honorary Golden Bear laureate for her life’s work so far, with an accompanying program of some of her most celebrated films. About Joan is her newest, screened out of competition as a Berlinale Special gala (though Huppert was unable to make the trip to Berlin after testing positive for Covid). That is quite a lot of weight to carry for Laurent Larivière’s slender story about the malleability of memory. That subject in itself, broad and deep as it is, may be too much for this rickety film to bear, even with Huppert’s flickering brilliance in the title role.

Opening Ceremony has dropped a new Beastie Boys-themed capsule collection.

Spike Jonze directs a film version of the Beastie Boys' 2019 stage-show memoir, in which Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond prove themselves infectious raconteurs of their white-kid-turned-king-of-rock hip-hop saga.

Almost one year ago, the guys who once declared that there would be no sleep till Brooklyn vaulted on stage at the local Kings Theater and proceeded to take audiences on a raucous three-and-a-half-hour-long exploration of all things Beastie Boys.

Update: As of Tuesday (March 17), the doc's release date has been postponed to a later date, TBD.

A new, intimate, and personal look at the Beastie Boys is coming to Apple TV+.

The Beastie Boys are in full effect in the first official trailer for the upcoming Beastie Boys Story documentary, directed by their longtime pal and collaborator Spike Jonze.The nearly three-minute preview opens with some classic glimpses of B-Boys videos and live performances, before turning to early days footage of the group -- including then-drummer and later Luscious Jackson member Kate Schellenbach behind the kid -- with Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) and Mike D (Michael Diamond) explaining that back in their 1980s punk scene everyone wanted to be a rapper."But we were mediocre at best," admits Horovitz in footage from the recent speaking tour the two mounted in support of the Beastie Boys Book.

Apple TV+ has debuted the full trailer for their upcoming feature-length Beastie Boys documentary Beastie Boys Story. The film is directed by Spike Jonze and has to be one of my hotly anticipated streaming releases in the coming months.

They join major companies such as Netflix and Facebook to pull out of the event

Beastie Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have canceled their scheduled appearances at this year’s South By Southwest festival in Austin due to the ongoing threat of coronavirus. All of the aforementioned artists were scheduled to participate in the film portion of the festival; Beastie Boys were slated to discuss their upcoming Spike Jonze-directed documentary Beastie Boys Story, Osbourne was scheduled to promote his own doc Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, and Reznor and Ross were meant to helm a keynote speech on HBO’s Watchmen series, for which they penned the score.

In May of 2012, musician, artist, rapper, filmmaker, and political activist Adam Yauch (MCA) passed away after a battle with cancer. His influential group, the seminal hip -hop trio, The Beastie Boys, essentially died on the same day too.
