Online shoppers have been warned to be aware of some fake Wilko websites that are currently being operated by scammers.The high street retailer, which fell into administration earlier this month, no longer offers the delivery or click and collect feature on its website.However, fraudsters have been creating their own websites that look similar to that of Wilko and are flogging fake deals in an attempt to steal money and personal data from customers.Administrators from PwC told The Mirror it is aware of “a number of fake Wilko websites” and reminded customers that Wilko products can now only be purchased in stores and not online.
At the moment,Wilko has over 400 stores in the UK - 10 of which are in Scotland - and these are open as normal at the time of writing.
A report from The Guardian suggests there are at least ten fake Wilko websites doing the rounds. One of these claimed to be selling a Wilko sofa for just £4.99, despite Wilko not even stocking sofas.
PwC said: “We have been made aware of a number of fake Wilko websites which are offering Wilko products at heavily discounted prices.
