Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed he will not have Cameron Archer available to face Manchester City after missing the deadline for his new striker's registration.

Sheffield United agreed a deal with Aston Villa for Archer on Wednesday, believed to be worth around £18million. The 21-year-old was due to finalise personal terms and complete a medical in the following days, although there has been no formal announcement as of yet.

The Blades host City at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon, and Heckingbottom had hoped to register his new signing before Friday lunchtime's deadline.

But that has not happened meaning he will not feature against the Blues this weekend, “No, the deadline was today," Heckingbottom responded bluntly when asked if Archer will be available. “It’s out of my hands, I don’t know.
