Sharon Stone Recreates Infamous ‘Basic Instinct’ Scene After Years Of Controversy

The moment in question is, of course, the interrogation scene in Basic Instinct in which Stone’s character uncrosses her legs and reveals that she is not wearing underwear.
Stone has said, “I’d been told, ‘We can’t see anything—I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on.’” But when she saw the film, that was not the case.
Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven, for his part, denied tricking the actress. Stone has said the scene impacted her career negatively, and that she even lost custody of her child in 2004 because of assumptions created by her brief nudity in the film.
