A sheriff has deferred sentencing a Coupar Angus man who sent menacing messages to an ex-partner as well as a video of him beating a dog for a further three months.Brendan John Brown was put on the Right Track Programme for young offenders last year after he admitted sending a message to his ex saying “I hope you understand you have ruined life for your whole family” and another one saying he knew someone “who would kill any c*** for me”.Brown (21), of Murrays Court, Hay Street, Coupar Angus, also admitted sending the same woman a video of him slapping a bull terrier on the head later the same day.He was put on the Right Track Programme in August last year and his progress was last reviewed in November when it was said he had “embraced support” offered to him by social workers and “expressed remorse” for his conduct.A solicitor told Perth Sheriff Court last week Brown was now a father and had rekindled his relationship with the woman he previously behaved badly towards. However Sheriff William Wood said paperwork before him providing a further update on Brown’s progress on the Right Track Programme contained certain “flags” which gave him cause for concern. He opted to defer sentencing Brown until May 11 to give him more time to continue the programme and address the matters he said concerned him.Sheriff Wood told Brown: “Let’s see how you are doing in another three months time.”
