Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television producer. After appearing on the children's series Barney & Friends (2002–2004), she received wider recognition for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 until 2012.
Gomez also starred in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), and Monte Carlo (2011). I would go online and I would post a picture of myself and say [the negative comments] don't matter, I'm not accepting what you're saying — all the while being in the room posting that, crying my eyes out, because nobody deserves to hear those things," she said on Apple TV+'s "Dear."The "Only Murders in the Building" star thought that her fibbing would be beneficial to others. "I was posting these things saying it doesn't bother me because I didn't want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing — getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love," she said. "I just think it's so unfair.
I don't think that anybody deserves to feel less than."Selena, 30, is no stranger to being bodyshamed. In January, online trolls criticized her body after she was photographed in a swimsuit in Mexico.
Shortly after, Selena said "I'm not a model, never will be."The pop star has been open about body image, particularly given that she was diagnosed with lupus in 2014.
