Household budgets will be squeezed yet further this winter after it was announced energy prices are back on the rise. Regulator Ofgem has today said the price cap for the typical household in England, Scotland and Wales will increase by 10 per cent from October 1.
It will add around £12 a month to an average bill. The price cap changes every three months and had been falling in recent months, down to its lowest in two years (£1,568).
But from 1 October 2024, it will be set at an average of £1,717 a year for a typical dual-fuel household paying by direct debit.
That's an average increase of 10% per household or £149 per year. READ MORE: UK energy bills to rise AGAIN this winter with average households to pay £149 more a year However, the changes will affect each household differently.
