Scouts apologise for 'misleading' jury during inquest into Stockport boy's death

direct to your inboxScout Association officials have issued an apology to the family of a 16-year-old boy who fell 200ft to his death.Benjamin Leonard suffered severe head injuries when he fell around 200 feet down a cliff on Llandudno's Great Orme.

The teenager, from Stockport, was a member of Reddish Explorer Scouts when they travelled to North Wales in August 2018.The group had the intention of going up Snowdon but changed their plans because of bad weather.After having breakfast in Llandudno, they decided to walk up the Orme.As they all headed up towards the summit, Ben and two friends turned off the main path along a route.It took them directly above a cliff and, when Ben started to traverse the cliff edge, he slipped and suffered.
