The new song “I Am Woman” by Emmy Meli is getting more and more traction on the music charts and she recently opened up about how TikTok forced her to finish the single. Emmy originally just posted a short snippet that she wrote and the sound turned into a TikTok trend. “It kind of transcended just being like a normal viral thing when it turned into a trend,” she said in a new interview with the Spout podcast. Emmy explained that she realized she needed to finish the song to capitalize on the moment. “At the time, I was still working a golf course so I wrote the rest of the song at work the next day because I woke up and I think within like 24 to 36 hours, it was already at like a million views and I was like, oh, okay, so I had to finish the song now, like right now,” Emmy said.

She added, “I wasn’t necessarily even trying to write a song. Like if you ever listened to any my older music, you’ll see that it’s all very, like, poetic lyrics with deep meaning and la la la… But this one, I mean, I was just messing around.

Like, I genuinely was just singing and having fun and I thought the message was cool so I posted it. Like, I really wasn’t trying and then I guess it resonated with people, man.
