School in lockdown with pupils 'hiding under desks' over online 'gun' threats

Parents have described how terrified pupils were instructed to hide under desks after a 'gun' threat lead to a school lockdown today.

Anxious relatives rushed to Goldborne High School in Wigan with armed police attending the scene. Classes came to a standstill after threats were made online by an individual claiming to be armed and targeting the secondary school.

One parent described to Manchester Evening News how students were forced to take cover under desks with all the lights turned off.

They said: “I left work and rushed down here. My boss has a child that goes here so we all came down.“My son said they were told to hide under the desks and stay quiet, the lights were switched off and they were like that for two hours.”Another
