A high-earning father who evaded nearly £50,000 in income tax due to his ‘greed’ has been spared jail. Christopher Mooney, of St Christopher’s Avenue, Ashton-Under-Lyne, worked several well paying jobs between 2013 and 2019.

The 40-year-old worked for companies such as Under Armour and AG Barr which required him to travel frequently which he claimed expenses on.

It also allowed him to afford a mortgage of £1,800 a month for his wife and two children, however, this was not enough for him. Read more: Manchester Minshull Street court heard that over six years Mooney made a number of fraudulent claims to HMRC and wrongfully claimed £45,517.74 in tax relief.
