A parent was forced to fork out more than £90 after being late to pick up their child from school. The charge was revealed by the stunned teacher, who walked away with the cash.Kristin Evans was paid extra thanks to the tardy parent breaching her school's late pick-up policy.

For each minute a parent is late for the designated collection time, they get charged $2 - about £1.60.The money covers the lost time for teachers who have to stay with the pupil until their mum or dad arrives to pick them up, The Mirror reports.Kristin revealed during a TikTok video that she had to wait with one child for almost an hour.

At the end of the day, her school boss handed her $116 (£92) for her time.Looking a little shocked as she recorded the video, Kristin said: "The director of my school just walked up to me and handed me $116."She said it was because one of my half-day students was picked up almost an hour late and we get paid $2 a minute for every minute that they're late."So this parent was charged $2 a minute for being late and it goes directly into my pocket."Kristin did not pass comment on the policy itself, which sparked a mixed reaction from TikTok users who flooded the comments section with their opinions. Some felt sympathy for the unpunctual parent, with one saying: "Imagine that mum freaking out, rushing to get there with high anxiety and then you get there and it’s like 'fork over the money'.

Not a good day for that mum."Another added: "I can remember crying because I was stuck in traffic. I couldn’t get to my child’s daycare before it closed or afford the fine and they called the police."Others, including some teachers, commented in support of the policy.
