Struggling Rangers star Sam Lammers is reportedly set to be offered a career lifeline by former boss Michael Beale at Sunderland.

The Dutchman was brought to Ibrox by Beale in the summer for a reported £3.5m as the versatile forward arrived from Serie A side Atalanta but he has failed to impress so far during his stint in the Scottish Premiership.

The 26-year-old has netted just twice so far this season - with his last goal coming back in November in the 5-0 rout of Dundee.

With Philippe Clement looking to put his own stamp on the squad while the Scottish Premiership is in cold storage, the attacker could be deemed surplus to requirements with reports swirling that a loan exit could be on the cards with Lammers only signing a four year deal last summer.
