With Christmas and New Year's in the rear-view mirror, some people may be looking ahead to a holiday. As is always the case with a trip away, people might want to think about baggage allowances before booking flights.

Airlines have different allowances, and some will refuse oversized bags while others will allow you to bring a bigger bag for an added price. It comes as holiday companies expect bookings to reach or even exceed pre-coronavirus levels this year, reports the Liverpool Echo.

So, with that in mind, here are the hand luggage rules for leading airlines to help you make sure that you're prepped for your next holiday.

All passenger fare types include a small personal bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. This must be a maximum of 40cm x 20cm x 25cm.Over-sized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of £69.99 (fee subject to VAT on domestic flights at applicable government rates). If you are unsure whether your bag is the correct size, check it at the Bag Drop desk before going through security.EasyJet permits one small cabin bag per person on board for free.
