Like many other companies in Ireland and around the world, the national broadcaster RTÉ has suffered financial loses during the current pandemic.
It was announced the broadcaster would be availing of Government’s COVID-19 wage subsidy scheme due to the drop in revenue. It is said that the station has seen a huge drop in TV licence fee income along with a drop in their commercial revenue which is hitting RTÉ hard.
Director-General of RTÉ, Dee Forbes, confirmed the news of the subsidy scheme in an email sent around to all staff. In a statement, the station said: ‘Like many companies and organisations, RTE has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
