A road was closed in Ashton this afternoon following a serious 'three car' crash. Oldham Road (A627) in Ashton-under-Lyne was shut with police in attendance.

It is thought the incident happened at around 4.15 pm this afternoon, December 19. The closure in place is between Cranbrook Street and the A6140 Wellington Road currently.

Pictures from the scene showed a large police presence and an ambulance in attendance. A witness told the M.E.N that the damage to the vehicles looked 'pretty bad'.

They added: "I can see a red Peugeot that looks like it is missing a wheel. The front of the car is completely smashed up. "Further down there is a BMW and a Mercedes that are next to each other outside the car wash. "Damage wise, it looks pretty bad."
