REVIEW: Connect Festival crowd embrace man of the moment Fred Again with loving arms

Connect Festival returned to Edinburgh last weekend for three days of exceptional live music. A notably larger crowd than last year's inaugural fest descended on the Royal Highland Centre Showgrounds to soak up an eclectic mix of homegrown and national talent from the likes of Primal Scream, Young Fathers, Boy Genius, Arab Strap and Fred Again - and even the sun decided to show up.

Heading along on the Saturday, Lanarkshire Live highlights included one of the most exciting names in Scottish hip hop, Nigerian-born Ayrshire rapper Bemz, aka Jubemi Lyiku, who fired up the crowd at the intimate Gardeners Cottage stage with his razor-sharp lyrical stylings.

As well as iconic headliners Optimo (Espacio) who tore the proverbial roof off Unknown Pleasures, the stage also played host to two emerging female Scots DJ's Sofay and Eclair Fifi who gave the festival's clubbing contingent a delectable slice of hypnotic beats and wonky electronica
