Repair works set to begin in Bridge of Weir have been postponed due to current weather warnings relating to “bitterly cold Arctic winds”.

Last week, the Paisley Daily Express reported drivers were set to face disruption in Main Street with Scottish Water installing two-way traffic lights for four days from Tuesday, January 15 until Friday, January 19.

Now the works have been delayed until Monday, January 22 due to current weather warnings of bitterly-cold Arctic winds bringing snow and ice.

This is the next stage in the extensive and disruptive works which caused concern among local councillors and business owners who were affected by the road closure.Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west, told the Paisley Daily Express: “This is the end of the road as far as traffic management is concerned for this project.“Last year’s full road closure was an inconvenience we had not anticipated so I am delighted no further restrictions will be required in Main Street once this next phase of works is complete.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
