Queen Elizabeth II to be honoured with one minute’s silence on Sunday night

Britain is to hold a one-minute silence in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday night at 8pm. People will be invited to come together to “mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II” during a minute’s silence on Sunday, No 10 has confirmed.

The official spokesman for the Prime Minister said: “At 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the state funeral, there will be a one-minute silence where the public are invited to come together and observe a national moment of reflection to mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.

And if you are overseas, people are encouraged to mark the silence at their local time. “The shared national moment of reflection is an opportunity for everyone across the UK to mark the death of Her Majesty and we will set out details of where the Prime Minister will mark it closer to that time.” The announced one-minute silence will be held across the country as organised events, clubs and community groups are urged to participate, as well as those at home and at work.The 60-second tribute to the Queen celebrating her 70-year reign will take place on the eve of the monarch’s State Funeral on Monday 19 September.This day has been declared as a National bank Holiday in the UK, enabling as people as possible to watch the Queen’s funeral, should they wish.The State Funeral will begin at 11am.
