Prisoner who murdered man in Uddingston cleared of having mobile phone in his cell

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.A prisoner serving life for murdering a man in Uddingston has been cleared of having an illegal mobile phone in his cell.Paul Kane claimed he knew nothing about the device that was found inside a mattress.Kane, 29, is serving a minimum of 17 years at HMP Shotts.He was jailed for life in September 2016 for stabbing Viewpark youth Sean Banks, 18, through the heart.The fatal attack happened in North British Road the previous year.Kane was brought from prison for a trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court.He denied illegal possession of the phone.
