Princess Anne's surprising career plan away from royal life after obtaining specific licence

Princess Anne once shared her alternative career dream if she wasn't in the Royal Family in a throwback interview with her then-husband Mark Phillips.

Chatting to Michael Parkinson in 1983, she corrected him by saying: "I think it was more precise than that. I was going to earn my living and as I've got an HGV licence I don't mind spending time on one's own driving." She added: "I think you could run your own life that way.

You could put in a lot of hours for a period of time then leave yourself with a bit of time at the end of it. It wouldn't be such a bad way of doing it." In another recently resurfaced interview, the Princess Royal revealed the stringent rules the royals must adhere to while working.

In the 1981 documentary 'Princess Anne: Her Working Life', Anne, now 74, explained the importance of maintaining a "[You must be] nice and bright and cheerful, [even if you may not necessarily] feel like it." The mother of Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall also delved into the specifics of choosing companions for Royal engagements.
