Pensioner killed after fire breaks out in apartment block

A pensioner has died after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Leigh. Firefighters were called to the blaze in Ledgard Avenue at about 4.35am today (December 27).

Forensics officers have also been pictured working at the scene. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death, say police.
