Parents warned over potential surge in asthma attacks as kids return to school

Parents who have children with asthma are being warned that they should take extra precautions with the condition following a predicted soar in life-threatening asthma attacks.

One mother described her fears surrounding her asthmatic son's return to school after being admitted to hospital almost every year in September.

It comes after Asthma and Lung UK said that year-on-year there are spikes in hospital admissions for asthma attacks in September.

Data from 2016 - the latest available - revealed that 1,795 children were admitted to hospital in England with asthma in September, resulting in a dramatic increase from the 435 admitted in August.
