India has selected the survival thriller 2018 from filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph as its entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2024 Oscars.
The film was picked by a selection committee formed by the Film Federation of India and chaired by filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli.
Starring Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, and Asif Ali, the pic is a disaster film set during the 2018 Kerala Floods, where people from all walks of life faced catastrophic consequences and put in collective efforts to survive the calamity.
Joseph co-wrote the pic with Akhil P. Dharmajan. Producers are Anto Joseph, C.K. Padma Kumar, and Venu Kunnappilly. According to local press, 22 films were up for the Oscars spot.
