Neighbours 'axed after 40 years' as iconic Australian soap set to end

Neighbours has reportedly been cancelled after 40 years despite the long-running Australian soap being a fan-favourite on the air for nearly four decades.

Fans will have to get their fill of Ramsay Street as according to a source, the show is set to close its residents' doors for the very last time.

What's more, according to the source the cast and crew, who are based in the city of Melbourne, haven't even been told the news yet.The soap first came onto screens back in 1985, and is reportedly set to end this August, despite cast and crew not having been informed yet.
