STRICTLY judge Motsi Mabuse claims a toxic relationship with her “controlling” ex-husband held her back from being the star she is today.

The 41-year-old told how German dancer Timo Kulczak, 45, took charge of her money and paid her an allowance from what she earned via her dance teaching and TV appearances.

In her book Finding My Own Rhythm, out now, she claims Timo chose what they ate and even refused to split up with her — despite her numerous pleas.

He finally relented after she retired from competitive dancing. Motsi says: “Timo and I went to Thailand, and I told him, once and for all, that I was leaving “We fought every day, but I refused to back down this time.” Cracks in the relationship appeared when the pair — who won two German championships — stopped dancing together after Timo had enough of competing.
