A mum who remortgaged her home and started her dream business for her spare bedroom is celebrating a whopping £1m company turnover.

Charlotte Mills had always wanted to become a designer, and in 2014 decided to take the plunge into the fashion industry. Using knowledge she gained from working at other companies such as River Island, the mum-of-two set up her wedding shoe brand from her spare room - after remortgaging her house and still working full time.

She was denied a government grant or loan from the bank and had to keep her fledgling business a secret from her boss incase it folded.

However, she was determined to make it a success and spent many sleepless nights trying to get her brand off the ground, Hull Live reports.
