Multi-million pound works sees accessibility improvements at Lanarkshire station

A new accessible footbridge and lifts have been installed in a £3.1 million project at a Lanarkshire railway station.The new facilities at Croy station came into use this week and provide step-free access to all platforms at the stop on the Glasgow to Edinburgh route, helping passengers with mobility issues, travelling with children and those transporting luggage or cycles.It also saw £400 of materials plus 200 hours of volunteer time being donated to the renovation of nearby charity space Croy community hub; while the station construction work included using recycled materials including refurbished metal fencing and low-carbon concrete, as well as the introduction of electric vehicle charging stations.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
