The 25-year-old Edinburgh University engineering student spoke of how distressed the woman was shortly after the red Kia ploughed into her and her son.

He told the Daily Record : “I was just on my computer when I heard a bang. “I went outside to see what happened and everyone was upset.

There was a woman - the mum of the child - she was bleeding from her nose and face - there was blood everywhere.“I just heard her scream, she was very upset, crying and shaking.“I couldn’t see the boy from where.
