More than 1,400 cyclists from across the world are set to descend on Gatehouse this weekend for The Gralloch. The event, a round of the TREK UCI Gravel World Series, took place for the first time last year and was a huge success.

And now its back, with more cyclists taking part than last year on a brand new route through the Galloway Forest Park. The next four days are set to be heaven for cycling fans, starting tonight with a Women in Gravel talk with Maddy Nutt and Haley Simmonds in the event from 5.30pm.

Tomorrow there will be two shake out rides – one at 10am and one at 2pm. And at 5pm there will be the chance to hear from double Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee as well as Alex Dowsett, Nathan Haas and Nicolas Roche.

The elite riders will be presented at 6.30pm with live music from 7pm. And the big day arrives on Saturday, with the riders heading off from 9.45am.
