Former Manchester United director Michael Knighton has suggested that his plan to submit a formal offer to buy the club is progressing 'as planned.' Last month, Knighton, who came close to buying United back in 1989, confirmed that he was drawing up plans to submit a formal bid to buy the Reds from the Glazer family with the help of a consortium.
The 70-year-old is no stranger to Old Trafford, serving on the club's board of directors after his failed takeover attempt more than 30 years ago.
Confirmation of Knighton's interest in buying the club last month was received with a mixed response from United's supporters.
Many of them welcomed the idea of someone attempting to oust the Glazers, but they doubted whether he had the financial capabilities to buy them out.
