Don't miss out on the big stories from Manchester's courts with our weekly newsletter A man attacked two workmen with a broken bottle as they carried out work on a house… he then came back later with a machete.

Reece Gilbert, 28, was spotted acting ‘strangely’, inhaling gas and laughing uncontrollably by the two men carrying out work on a house opposite.

They thought he initially appeared ‘comical’ but his behaviour took a turn when he told them to ‘get in the f***ing house’ whilst armed with a broken bottle.

The men fled to their van for safety as Gilbert went back into his house, Manchester Crown Court heard. Moments later he emerged wearing a hoodie and pulled a ‘machete-style’ knife from his pocket and brandished it towards the men.
