Major Lanarkshire manufacturer celebrates the sale of its billionth contact lens

It’s not uncommon for a disgruntled factory worker to utter to their offspring the doomsday mantra: “Stick in at school or you’ll end up working in a place like this.”It’s not like that at daysoft – the Lanarkshire manufacturing enterprise whose founding father invented the affordable daily disposable contact lens.Since production began in 2001 at the 30,000 sq ft plant on Hamilton Business Park in Blantyre, around 300 people – predominantly natives of Lanarkshire – have, at some point, been employed by daysoft.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
