Reeb was hired last August by Mary Carmack-Altwies, the Santa Fe district attorney, to lead the prosecution. Naman Ramachandran “White Snow,” the latest project from celebrated Indian filmmaker Praveen Morchhale, is his “artistic revolt” against political systems that repress artists. The project has been selected for the 21st Hong Kong — Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), the project market that operates concurrently with FilMart (March 13-16). Set in and around Kargil, a Muslim-dominated town in the Himalayas, where a war was fought between India and Pakistan in 1999, the film tells the story of Amir, whose short film gets banned due to a complaint from a religious leader, and his social media accounts gets blocked. His elderly mother Fatima sets out on an arduous journey in the Himalayan mountains to show the film in villages, which breaks her mentally and physically and brings her close to madness before she becomes a free soul.

Following news last week that Netflix and director Nancy Meyers were at crossroads over the budget on her next film, sources close to the situation say the streamer has decided to part ways with the project. Deadline reported last week that Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz and Michael Fassbender were in talks to star but that the budget, which sources say was coming in around $130 million, was causing issues. Sources now say, that while the studio was fine with $130 million, Meyers was still fighting for $150 million, with $80 million of that going to above the line costs. With both sides refusing to budge on the budget, sources say Netflix was leaning toward fully moving off the film over the weekend with the plug ultimately getting pulled this morning.

After 10 days of deliberation, a Los Angeles jury found disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein guilty of one count of rape on December 19, 2022.Weinstein, 70, was charged in Los Angeles with seven sexual assault counts involving four women: three counts of forcible rape, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, one count of forcible oral copulation, and one count of sexual penetration by a foreign object. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.In addition to the one count of rape, Weinstein was found guilty of forced oral copulation and another sexual misconduct count relating to one of the four victims. The jury did not reach a verdict on charges relating to two other alleged victims, one of whom was Jennifer Siebel-Newsom, the wife of Governor Gavin Newsom.
