Lyanco on Celtic transfer shortlist as Southampton defender considered with Luis Palma deal imminent

Celtic have also ramped up their search for a centre back – with a loan deal the preferred option due to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki facing up to two months on the sidelines and Stephen Welsh out for four months following surgery.Brendan Rodgers is assessing several defensive options – with Southampton’s Lyanco among the names put to the Hoops boss with Saints keen to offload the Brazilian.
The 26-year-old played 30 times for the St Mary’s side last term but has fallen further down the pecking order with Mason Holgate on the way from Everton.
Lyanco looked set for a move to Besiktas earlier in the window but the move collapsed, while clubs in England and the Middle East have also been alerted to his availability.Saints are keen to offload but Rodgers has several other irons in the fire and is expected to have another defender on board soon.
