Two years on since Love Island star Tasha Ghouri captured the hearts of the nation in the Mallorcan villa, the reality star has heartbreakingly opened up about the vile abuse she received following her departure from the show in 2022.Tasha, 25, who is deaf and wears a cochlear implant, appeared on Saturday’s GB News alongside Peter Andre and Ellie Costello to discuss the hurtful ableist comments that had been directed towards her while starring on the popular ITV2 show - and to campaign to bring an end to them.

Opening up on her experience, Tasha said: “Whilst I was on the show [Love Island], I had a lot of ableism about my voice especially.

I had comments like ‘I want to rip out your cochlear implant and throw it in the pool’, very brutal things like that. “But I think for me, coming out of the show, I turned it into a positive.

I don’t like negativity. I wanted to use my platform to educate and use it for the better. The amount of people that changed their opinion and said ‘I didn’t know that’ goes to show the lack of awareness and education about cochlear implants or the deaf community. “I used it to fuel my fire to do better and motivation to do better in this world.” After Tasha’s candid admission, Mysterious Girl singer Peter was quick to praise her “amazing” attitude to the situation, while also encouraging her to continue campaigning for better disability recognition and acceptance of deaf accents on screen. “If you just keep going, there is no doubt in my mind that you will make such a huge impact”, encouraged the star, before continuing: “I love that you take that negativity and throw it away.
