Irvine gran made a clean break as a one-woman litter picking hero after being forced to bin her retirement plans.Catherine Bayliss has filled 226 bags of rubbish on her own since she began volunteering with community group Irvine Clean Up Crew in October.The 67-year-old heads out most days - in all weathers - to tackle litter hostpots in Broomlands, Bourtreehill, Dreghorn and a section of the National Cycle Route 73.She says her new found passion has given her fresh purpose after lockdown robbed her of so many of the things we take for granted in life."I retired last summer during lockdown," said Catherine, a former administrator.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football.
