Top referee Dermot Gallagher believes Rangers were denied a stonewaller against Dundee United and reckons the hosts should have finished the game with 10 men.
The Ibrox side were left frustrated after the 1-1 Scottish Premiership draw and were miffed by Bobby Madden's decision to wave play on when the Zambian was hauled down by Ross Graham.
Rangers also had a penalty shout turned away by Madden for a handball by Graham before the incident involving Sakala. And Gallagher could barely hide his disbelief over the incident that denied Sakala against United.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Ref Watch segment, he said: "I think this is a penalty, if the referee gives a penalty it also a red card, he grabs so much of his shirt, he (Sakala) is just about there to kick it into the net, so if the penalty was given, which I think it should have been, it would also be a red card."Gallagher was non-committal about the first penalty claim. He added: "I think the referee felt it has come off his own player, it's gone, it struck his arm, but he didn't consider that it struck his arm first."When asked if he should have considered that, Gallagher again didn’t commit. He continued: "I'm not sure to be honest."
