Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

In a statement issued by his spokeswoman, his family said: “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.
We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.” The family's statement follows the sad news from Wednesday, 16 October that Liam had died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Following the tragedy, Liam's parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, were seen leaving their Wolverhampton home in the middle of the night as the news reached them.
