A HACKER who stole unreleased music from Ed Sheeran and Kanye West has been jailed. Adrian Kwiatkowski, 22, illegally accessed the cloud-based accounts of top music artists and their producers to create electronic copies of unfinished songs.

When the defendant's Apple Mac laptop was searched, 565 audio files were found from a series of well-known artists including Sheeran, West and rapper Lil Uzi Vert.

Police said Kwiatkowski, of Ipswich, Suffolk, made £131,000 after he confirmed he sold them under the alias Spirdark. Joanne Jakymec of the CPS said Kwiatkowski had "complete disregard for the musicians' creativity" and "selfishly stole their music to make money for himself by selling it on the dark web".

An investigation was launched in 2019 by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office following complaints from a number of management companies of several musicians.
