Hellas Verona could be ready to compromise on their Josh Doig asking price due to the 'economic difficulties' facing the Serie A side. And it comes amid news that Torino, one of the frontrunners to sign Doig this month, are eyeing up Ajax's Owen Wijndal as a potential alternative.
Rangers are considering a January swoop for Doig as Philippe Clement looks to land his long-term left-back, with Borna Barisic out of contract at the end of the season and Ridvan Yilmaz yet to fully cement his place despite some strong recent performances.Record Sport understands there is firm interest in Doig and contact has been made over the 21-year-old who has impressed since joining from Hibs.
Verona have set an initial valuation of £5.5m as they don't want to lose one of their key men in January, but the latest reports from Italy say their hand could be forced since they're strapped for cash.
Tutto Mercato say they are locked in talks with Torino over Doig and they cite a price tag of €6m (£5.2m)...a slightly lower figure than Verona had initially set out.
