Jack MacKenzie in frame for new Aberdeen FC deal as Jimmy Thelin gears up for Premiership debut
dailyrecord.co.ukJimmy Thelin has revealed he has held initial talks with Jack MacKenzie over a new contract for the Aberdeen full back.Academy graduate MacKenzie - who is into the final 12 months of his current deal at Pittodrie - has established himself as the club's first choice left back in the past 12 months, and has caught the eye in the early weeks of the new season, opening the scoring in his side's 5-0 win against Dumbarton in the Premier Sports Cup.
Speaking ahead of Monday night's Premiership opener with St Johnstone, Thelin said: "For me, it's something for Steven (Gunn, director of football) to talk about. "But I've had good talks with Jack myself also and he knows he's an important player for us.
I always think when they're from the area, it's important. Jack's been here (with the club) since nine years old I think. So let's see what's going to happen, but for us he's an important player, we trust in him.
I think he really likes it here also."Thelin knows his team will have to stand up to the physical threats posed by St Johnstone in Perth but is confident his players are ready to hit the ground running in the league. "I think we are ready", he added."You have always got to adapt to the circumstances so we have done that.
